UNITSHIFTER GETS BEER
Cult Movie Distributor Picks Up Rights To Hot Indie Rock Comedy,
Signs Director To Three-Picture Deal

Los Angeles, CA, April 15, 2006 – UnitShifter Films, the cult movie imprint of Sony-BMG/RED-distributed label HALO 8 Entertainment, has acquired worldwide rights to the indie rock comedy BEER: THE MOVIE by 456 Productions, it was announced today by HALO 8 President Matt Pizzolo. The acquisition is part of a three-picture deal negotiated between UnitShifter Films and writer-director Peter Hoare.

BEER: THE MOVIE
is a comedy in the tradition of KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE. Hatched in the Long Island indie rock scene, BEER was originally developed as a series of downloadable vignettes on FUSE Channel’s Daily Download. The culmination of those webisodes is the feature-length BEER: THE MOVIE,a suds-soaked update of the sketch-comedy movie genre.

“BEER: THE MOVIE epitomizes the kind of high-energy fun and reckless abandon of indie rock,” said Pizzolo. “Peter Hoare and his team have crafted an intoxicating blend of humor and camaraderie. We are delighted to be associated with such a talented comedy team, and we are looking forward to a longterm relationship with them.”

"I am extremely excited to release BEER: THE MOVIE with HALO 8 Entertainment, and to help build the BEER: THE MOVIE brand over the course of these three DVD releases,” said Hoare. “As the film’s writer-director, I feel that HALO 8 has supported this project in a way that could not be matched elsewhere. I am grateful to have formed a relationship with a company that not only understands our unique brand of humor, but is excited about aggressively marketing it as well."

The film features a team of Long Island jokers including Robb Ackermann, Nick “Biff” Corrado, Tommy Gutter, Chris Lilli, The Poonman, Adam Szachacz, and writer-director Peter Hoare. The film was produced by Hoare’s 456 Productions.

HALO 8 Entertainment is an independent film distribution company specializing in music-driven cult movies and their related soundtracks. HALO 8’s recent releases include the award-winning urban thriller THREAT and its two soundtracks, featuring music by Grammy-nominees Killswitch Engage, MTV-favorites Eighteen Visions, and hardcore punk icons Gorilla Biscuits and Minor Threat.
